Yes, I’m not sure what report
I tried to set up a trade list report but it is giving me all of the components of the trade (e.g.. every offer bought individually rather than the total transactions in the one trade).TerryDunneParticipantIf you update the date to the latest date, RT won’t know that you have open positions.
I was having this problem, but once I set the date to a period when I had no open positions, then it all worked moving forward.
TerryDunneParticipantOf course!
Thanks Nick!
TerryDunneParticipantHi Nick,
I get a message or two with each basket. I have 17 baskets…
TerryDunneParticipantHi Heiko and Kate and any other people who follow this process,
I do what you have described above, but only when I launch a new system and only for the period of time it takes to ensure I haven’t screwed up my code in some way. After that I don’t look again, so now I’m wondering what I’m missing out on…
Do you regularly/sometimes find differences?
Are you able to find the reason for these differences?
Do the differences require you to reach out to IB for explanations?
Do they provide you with any useful explanations?
Have you had any occasions where IB have ‘adjusted’ your trades/balance because they’ve screwed something up?Happy Easter!

TerryDunneParticipantNothing I’ve seen suggests that doing this is a good idea.
With my systems, ROR is 10% less and MDD is worse (from 2005 to 2024) if I restrict the number of times a ticker can be traded across different systems to one.
While everyone’s systems will are unique, I’d be surprised if anyone had systems so unique that doing this didn’t have a negative impact on metrics.
Leaving hard numbers aside, this is a psychological issue – everybody notices when the stock that is traded more than once loses, but when it makes $$$ it’s just another day.
TerryDunneParticipantHi Ben,
FWIW, I think you’ve made an excellent decision.
Hopefully some space from the daily order placement might allow some fresh ideas to come to the surface.
I’m a huge fan of MOC, but not with a 60% drawdown.
Best of luck!

TerryDunneParticipantThanks for the explanation, which is interesting – and a little bit frightening!
I’ll reach out on RT!
TerryDunneParticipantOK, I think I’ve just seen the best 2023 performance of the Mentor group right there, congratulations!
Given my struggles with US MR, I look at your results with serious envy…without giving away your secret sauce, any suggestions for an Aussie battler?
Nice job Glen!

My most difficult year so far, so much so that in the end I’m just happy to finish with a (very small) profit. Sadly, I made more $$$ from IB interest than I did trading…
Six systems died this year, four MR systems that had to be put down mid year and two weekly swing systems that back tested great but didn’t survive in real life due to bad fills.
On the positive side, four short systems have been added, which I’m happy with after some teething issues.
For 2024, I’d like to add some replacement MR systems (but they have to make it in back testing through the mid 2023 period) and to continue my so far fruitless search for adequate trend/momentum systems, for diversification more than any other reason.
I hope everyone is still in one piece after a difficult year and that 2024 is kind to your trading and your life!

My new short systems took a caning in the first half of the month. I had been trying to make them operate when my MOC 1000 systems weren’t, so that I had orders every day. Given my general philosophy/approach, this was so, so dumb – I seek to find the best times to trade and then put the pedal to the metal rather than be trading all of the time, so what I tried to do was unnecessary and very, very unprofitable…
Note to self: don’t be a dumbass!
It’s amazing what a change of routine and location can do – a couple of days looking at the view and drinking Margaritas in the Mexican sun and the solution found me! I now feel very good about my short systems.
