June 2024
MOC Combined: 0.81%
MR: 0.69%
Trend: 0.4%
Total Portfolio: 1.77%After 22 months of trading I have finally come out of draw down to make new equity highs for the first time above my starting balance.
The system I traded from the beginning never reached its largest percentage DD, but it did exceed the maximum period of DD by just short of double.
This has not been an easy journey, though glad to be through it as preparation for the next time.Wishing you all good Luck for August.
StevenPolaMemberMay 2024
Fabulously boring month for me. Flat-ish till about the 23rd than the bulk of returns from there.
Slight adjustments to the allocations to each system at the beginning of the month.MOC Combined: 0.52%
MR: 3.78%
Total Portfolio: 2.15%Last night introduced a Trend System into the mix and allocated a 1/3 of the portfolio to it.
That’s 2 new systems in 2 months; not too shabby for a lazy bloke.I am about 2 beers away from reaching starting equity after a 21 month draw down, fingers crossed I break the threshold in June.
Best of luck to everyone.
StevenPolaMemberApril 2024
Volatility was the theme in my strategies this month, though in the end was quite flat.
I introduced a MR strategy that ended in the Green but outweighed by the MOC in the Red.MR: +1.01%
MOC Combined: -1.52%
Combined change in Equity: -0.78%StevenPolaMemberIn the IB Web Portal you can set up a Flex Query to generate what you are after. Its customisable.
In the web portal go to Reporting, then select Flex Queries, then press the “+” in the “Trade Confirmation Flex Query”.
From there its intuitive to generate a new Query which you can save and use when ever you want.
I use a Flex Query for my daily reconciliations, into a csv which then compares to the trade report from RT.
StevenPolaMemberMarch 2024
MOC Combined: -0.94%Everyday just pushing the buttons.
StevenPolaMemberFebruary 2024
MOC Combined – 0.91%Puts me half a percent away from my starting balance.
Good luck to all in March..
StevenPolaMemberJanuary 2024
MOC Combined: 0.84%Quite a bit of volatility in the month for me, though it is now more balanced both up and down which is how I expected the system to perform based on the back tests.
My confidence is much higher now the system seems to be performing more as expected. This is what my equity journey has liked since I started in August 2022. (based on End of Month account value normalised to $1000 starting point).
All the best for February.
StevenPolaMemberDecember 2023
MOC combined : 4.5%Year 2023
MOC Combined : 1.35%Since Inception : -2.2% (August 2022)
December was the best individual month for my trading since I began.
I have seen many many months like December in my back test; it was good to actually live through one.Wishing you all multiple months of new equity highs in 2024.
StevenPolaMemberNovember 2023
MOC was swimming in a pool of red most of the month, then came good at the end for
+ 0.75% return for the month. Still underwater 6.42%.Good luck to everyone in December.
StevenPolaMemberOctober 2023
MOC Combined -1.96%We make profits because we take risks, but sometimes you get risk all over your face……
Additional system added for November, but the regime filter is on…. doh…..
StevenPolaMemberSeptember 2023
MOC Combined -0.62%
These red numbers are fair dinkum giving me the s**ts.
I would love to start digging out of of my draw down now.
It feels very much like “The beatings will continue until moral improves”Any way very much looking forward to Uptober, though last night wasn’t the best of starts.
Wishing all your returns in October are greener than Kermet’s backside.
StevenPolaMemberVery sadden to hear your news Kate.
I wish you strength and healing as you move forward.Trading can wait. Your well-being is more important.
StevenPolaMemberI gave it a crack as follows.
Robust feedback on where this is a little bit shite much appreciated. Its the only we we learn right……..!No commissions included but with only 39 trades this shouldn’t trouble the scorer too much.

MOC Combined -0.04% basically flat.
UPST rolled up and stole all the coke.August brings up the 1st Anniversary.
Stats for the year as follows;
Trades: 2136
Return: -4.69%
Max DD: -8.90%Nothing beats “just doing it” and going through the year experiencing the daily ups and downs, operational issues etc. Seeing my systems actually in action over the year has been very insightful and bought some realisations which caused me to make simplifications to my systems and introduce a regime filter to swap between them. It has left me quite comfortable with the expectation my MOC systems will perform reasonably well over time.
Thanks to Nick and the team and all of you that contribute to the forum, I have found it most helpful over the year to know the struggles are shared; definitely helped keep me in the game. Looking forward to the ongoing adventure.
Bring on September……….Wishing you all the best of luck.
StevenPolaMemberCracking Month till about the 20th, then not so cracking. But really not so bad either.
MOC – 0.4%
During the coming month I will rack up 12 months live trading. I have been in drawdown since the 2nd or 3rd day of the journey and managed to stick with it. The DD is under 5% and I see positive movement in my understanding of the whole process.
I will have a good review over August with the intention of ramping it up with a few more systems.
Good Luck to you all for August.
