MR HFT: -3.7% (25.3% DD)
NDX Aggressive: -5.5% (14.42% DD)
ROR: -9.7% (25% DD)
SPX Momo: -1.8% (14.4% DD)
Opening Range: +10.1%The slaughter continues but it can all be explained so I don’t think its a big deal. Biggest chunk of the drawdown still comes from last years October drop which all systems got out of and the market promptly rallied. Some systems are struggling more than others to recover, namely my MR HFT system. Even the SPX Momo which is super conservative is still struggling to regain with all the tradewar rhetoric that continues to shake the market. Not worried, pressing on, next 1000 trades.
On other fronts I got a 20% raise at work as I received an offer from another company and the company I currently work for countered it so I am staying. Completed another large real estate deal which netted us 30% profit already and is cashflowing for at least the next 10 years.
My Discretionary system keeps producing profits, the amount is much smaller than my other systems but it is growing at a very nice pace.
On the psychology front I finally just separated myself from the money, Nick reviewed both the MR HFT and the NDX aggressive and gave his stamp of approval. I realized that if I am questioning my system I am really questioning Nick and Craig’s expertise as well as the process which I do not want to do. Hopefully this is growth into a better psychological mindset with my trading as well as other areas. I really appreciate all the knowledge I have gained learning from Nick and Craig and everyone else here in the forums and hope to continue!
TimothyStricklandParticipantI had to investigate because it seemed odd in the current environment. Come to find out it looks like my PC somehow was not synced with the right time. I found this out because browser certs were also not working on certain sites. Bah = P
TimothyStricklandParticipantJust curious if Others MRV systems are not getting signals lately?
Mine hasn’t gotten very many and the end of last week and this week I got 0. I think it is because a couple days there, the market went straight up.
TimothyStricklandParticipant.
TimothyStricklandParticipantI am a bit confused. Do we need to be looking at charts each day when running our systematic trading strategies? I wake up about 5 am every morning and i am typically done putting in all my trades by 5:05, sometimes 5:10 if I have a lot of trades and I do all this manually. Some people do it faster because they put it into a spreadsheet etc.
I only looked at charts the first few weeks of my system to make sure it was getting the right signal as the backtest but I rarely ever see a stock that gave me the signal to get in and then the backtest doesn’t show it and every time it is because I fat fingered something. At this point I trust the system is taking the trades. Is that what we are talking about or should we still be looking at the charts?
Keep in mind I work full time go to school full time and run a few businesses so I am always pretty busy. However, I find trading to be the quickest part of my day.
TimothyStricklandParticipantLast May I think I finally learned how to disconnect myself from the money for the most part. I had to just pretend the money was totally gone (I could lose it all), it helped a lot. I still feel some pain which I think is natural but I come here and see you guys posting your own struggles and honestly, it is encouraging to know that we are all in this together and we all feel the discomfort. My MRV was in a 29% Drawdown as of the close which is more than I ever expected but I am still plugging away, trading my system day in and day out because I know it will recover and I want to be taking the trades when it does.
Next 1000 Months!
TimothyStricklandParticipantHad a brief scare this morning. I incorrectly thought I would have to shut down my MR system because it dropped below the pattern day trading mark (currently in a 29.5% Drawdown) but since it holds for several days (I realized later) I am still fine.
TimothyStricklandParticipantYep. At least your at Square One Julian, I might be at -1 LOL.
TimothyStricklandParticipant.
TimothyStricklandParticipantThe Trump effect!
TimothyStricklandParticipantCaught a huge move this morning in my futures account as the market rallied. Luckily I closed my position out and went to work before Trump opened his big mouth on Tarriff’s and essentially wiped out all the gains made this morning and then some.
TimothyStricklandParticipantGreat gains!
TimothyStricklandParticipantNice guys, looks like the ASX is the place to be right now, seems like many are getting some good results, US markets can’t seem to make up their mind what they want to do yet.
TimothyStricklandParticipantGreat results there Miguel
TimothyStricklandParticipantThanks, the futures account is very small so proportionally doesn’t make as much difference. It does prove that it works though.
