My index filter took me out of the market on the 1st and 15th this month. It’s pretty tight on my ASX system so flicks on and off pretty easily in a sideways market which I quite like. In comparison my NDX systems is wide open (white knuckling).

For the first full year of running the system I was down 2.4%.

Without the top 5, the NASDAQ is down 25% year to date.

I’ve been underperforming the market and pretty much everyone else here that trades a NDX Momo System. But it kind of makes sense to me given that I run 10 positions.

I haven’t given it too much thought, but perhaps this could be a reason im struggling to gain traction this year.

LOL – thanks Glen! I hit a few singles at 200kg today to clear the cobwebs before placing trades! The main concern I have had is seeing the growth of the NDX while my system remains flat. I’m not in panic mode but it kind of sucks to have designed a system to capture the best of that growth and it hasn’t happened.

Sitting through 2 years of drawdown is probably easier in theory than in practice although I have come to a place of peace with it. I don’t really have any choice and I did choose to trade longer term strats with less workload to suit my personal situation. In some regards I think it has been going against my personality but it’s been a good exercise now that I am accustomed to it. In the past I would watch the market like I was a day trader while my monthly strats would plod along losing money now I don’t watch too much… just push the buttons and hope for the best. LOL

What are the benchmarks that you have set for yourself?

Are you trying to achieve these with a different style of system and or market that you currently trade?
