The volatility of my Multisystem MR portfolio is absurd. A 28% swing in the last few days. Thankfully huge day up today. Did my usual mindwarp after yesterdays huge down day. Wondering if the systems were broken, tempted to close out all trades, the usual nonsense. Instead put the orders in and kept trucking with 12% up today.
Getting much better with the psychology of this whole thing.

Not a big fan of Elliot Wave theory.
In any case for me the biggest obstacle to system trading is the emotional aspects of system drawdowns. The biggest progress I’ve made in belonging to the mentor program is learning to live with drawdowns in my account. Figuring out the systems to trade was the easiest part.
If you want to see the emotional toll of losing money with a system, check out Mike Rodwell’s posts. He’s shown a great deal of courage in sharing his experience and an inspiring restart to his trading. I have a lot of respect for Mike. I know where he is coming from.

Just an observation.
Have made a lot of money in the US markets since the March lows last year primarily because of long relative strength/momentum systems. Starting to get really nervous. Lots of speculation in low priced stocks. Nick’s hedge tool in TLT signals high risk. Now the market is starting to sell off at the end of the day.
I don’t really have a system that defines exits based on my intuition so will follow the rules of my systems. But nervously. Hopefully I will have the fortitude to follow my rules if we get a serious correction.

I noticed you mentioned that your rotational systems have a max DD of 40% in historical testing. It is worth noting that your worse drawdown generally occurs after you start trading a system.

It does involve learning a different language but not insurmontable. It is not super intuitive. I have become very good friends with Marsten so his help has been invaluable. As I mentioned if you are planning on trading multiple systems in one account REALTEST is superior to AMIBROKER. For my single systems like US momo I still use AMIBROKER.
TRADERUNNER his API is not shown on the site.
Right now REALTEST is in beta mode and I don’t know what Marsten will charge for it. I assume he is going to make both products available in the next 6 months.
