Would you like to give us an idea about how you are using it to spot errors?
(1) Take the ATR of last 5 days.
(2) Take the standard deviation of (1) for 50 days, and divide that by the standard deviation of the last 200 days
(3) If less than 5, then buy limit tomorrow at todays low minus (1) x 0.5
(4) Exit a close
(5) Apply to all stocks in US in an uptrend, above $20 and with t/o > $300kI may have misunderstood the rules, but I coded up the SD of 50 days, not the SD of the ATR.
The scan function ran the calculations and it was noted from the scan that no calculation (3) ran above 5, so rule 3 was essentially invalid on my version, but it did work at .5These exercises have been great from the perspective of critical thinking and using RT to pull apart a strategy.
Apart from that, I’m very reluctant trusting random trading gurus & the strategies they post on the internet
KateMoloneyParticipantJust to clarify, I put input one of the rules incorrectly. My version is till a WIP.
Glen showed me how to do a scan to pick up my error. Only 4 weeks into my RT learning journey…..
Where are you stuck?
KateMoloneyParticipantCancel my last comment Scott. Still trying to figure out if we interpreted the rules correctly.
The equity curve looks nothing like Nicks.
KateMoloneyParticipantSecond attempt more on the money.
Thanks to Glen for the help.
This weekends job is to learn the scan function on RT so I can pick up the errors myself.
KateMoloneyParticipantNick, isn’t this what you teach us not to do ?
KateMoloneyParticipantThank you for sharing.
My first attempt produced a 38% ROR with a -57% maxDD.
The maxDD was in 2008. Last year produced a 120% return.
KateMoloneyParticipantHi Trent
I did read that 90% of cash will be dispersed to shareholders if they can’t find another project and relist.
Have emailed the company for more details since IB and Computer share were of no help.
KateMoloneyParticipantIt came up when I logged in this morning, it said there was an update and not everything would work properly
KateMoloneyParticipantThere is a system upgrade. Try tomorrow.
KateMoloneyParticipantFeb 2023
ASX Momo -9.11%
ASX Swing -3.50%TLT -8.39%
MOC 1 -5.95%
MOC 2 -5.17%TSX Swing -3.7%
Combined:-4.87%
March 2023
ASX Momo -0.02% (added dividends from Feb/March)
ASX Swing -4.15% (drawdown since inception -3.75%)TLT -3.64%
MOC 1 -6.15%
MOC 2 -4.10%TSX Swing -7.09% (drawdown since inception -7.99%)
Last few months been tough to trade.
During March I had a couple of issues with order execution which added another 1-2% to the drawdown for MOC and TSX swing. Murphys law, it *had* to happen on the trades that hurt the bottom line.Been chipping away at RT and converting strategies across. Am now working on adding more MOC strategies to diversify the same capital across more strategies that are less correlated that the ones I have. A few people from this forum (you know who you are) have been very helpful with converting to RT … thank you so much!
On the mindset front, quit eating chocolate, started doing reformer pilates and lost a bit of weight. Mindset is in tip top shape.
Next months objective is to find the elusive trading holy grail, buy some taco trucks and establish a cult of some sort ….
KateMoloneyParticipantNice work Terry
KateMoloneyParticipant64GB of ram is a worth while investment.
My 32GB ram laptop took 8 minutes to run an optimization check on real test (2 hours on AB).
Exact same test took 40 seconds on my new laptop.
KateMoloneyParticipantGot the Dell XPS 15″ yesterday.
64GB of ram 1TB SSD drive. Upgraded the HDMI adapter between laptop and big screen.
Might have been overkill on the ram, but so far wondering how I lived BD (before Dell)
KateMoloneyParticipantThanks guys.
Did some research and Dell XPS looks good
XPS 13, 15 and 17 have the best reviews for performance and battery life.
Avoid XPS 13 plus. It has great performance but battery only lasts 4 hours and it gets very hot.
KateMoloneyParticipantThanks for all the suggestions guys.
Nick, I’ve been looking at the Dell XPS range.
What size ram/memory did you get ?
