Weird sh*t happening with API??

If Microsoft will charge us for every upgrade and patch they do on their products no one will use their products, same concept should be applied for everything. you buy the tool then software bugs fixes are for free and at least x number of upgrades are for free.

Just the latest….

Had a complete clusterf*uck last night on the MOC system. I actually finished up being short 3 stocks, 2 of which I never bought in the first place. The other was a position in another portfolio.

It’s a bug in the IB API. Levente had to create a workaround for this which is only available starting with version 1.4.2.

Everything was working fine and suddenly one day wrong executions started to flow back from IB. This is most probably due to the fact that your TWS started connecting to different IB servers, which expose this bug.

Because 1.4.2 has more features its a significant upgrade and why the cost.

On a slightly different note, but also an API problem, two days running I have had my MOC order in YUM not filled. In both instances the entry was a partial fill but Levente said he has seen this before where:

“No Imbalance. MOC/LOC orders are not allowed.” error for other users as well. As far as I remember, this means that at the time of closing the buy and sell sides of the order book did not overlap (hence no imbalance) and therefore no execution could take place.

Anyone else had this occur? I just sell the no filled MOC the next morning but I have had a few in the last couple of days.

I guess no one has had this problem…Anyway Levente and I managed to solve it. I had my orders set to cancel at 15:50 US time so therefore any MOC order for a partially filled stock was not placed in the market until that time, which is too late to go into the MOC system. I will change my orders to cancel at 15:43 and therefore the partialy filled orders will place the MOC for that stock before the 15:45 cutoff.

For me I cancel all the orders and the orders that are partially filled at 15:40 just to be sure that the partially filled orders will have their MOC accepted

yup I changed to 15:40 too now.
