Fridays trading session closed early with Thanksgiving. I didn’t know to set the API to close the market orders out early, so I’m left holding about 23 positions from Friday.
I’ve logged onto TWS and the API MOC sell orders for the held positions are still in the TWS system. I have tried to delete/cancel or change these orders to MKT sell orders and for some reason none of my attempts have worked. Even after restarting the API & TWS multiple times.
Other than trying IB at 9am, just wondering if anyone had other suggestions?
At this stage I’ll stay up for market open and manually input the MKT sell orders if I have too.

So my plan is to just stay up till market open and then submit 23 MKT sell orders manually.

Missing the MOC market close time on Friday…. i.e. the earlier 1pm market close….. looks like it might work out positively for you!!!! ….. currently DOW futures are + 0.7%….. that’s a rare feat in the forum, normally it’s a guaranteed hit to equity lol… But you have somehow managed to turn it into a positive ca$h return…… There should be a forum badge handed out for a feat like that. But I don’t want to jinx it for you….so I’ll just shut up now

Not really fussed on what the P & L result is, more focused on “following the process” ….. been listening to Nick too much perhaps ?

Maybe the market gods favour the females of this forum and punish the males?
November 29, 2021 at 9:48 pm #114086Nick RadgeKeymasterTo sell bulk orders, assuming that’s all you have open in the account:
TWS > Trade > Close All Positions > 100%
If you have a few more open trades, then it could be best to follow the above protocol, then cancel the others that you wish to retain.
November 30, 2021 at 4:29 am #114087KateMoloneyParticipantThanks Nick.
That is what I have been doing. Usually the cancellations show up straight away in TWS. Yesterday, the cancellations took about an hour to show up. Maybe because of the shorter trading session on Friday?
November 30, 2021 at 4:35 am #114093Nick RadgeKeymasterCancellations will only show when TWS is connected to the exchange. If the exchange is closed, such as during our daytime, then cancellations are held on the IB platform and will therefore be deemed as ‘pending’ until they’re cancelled.
