About 1 a day 250 a year, but as has been discussed MR tends to clump the trades together. I’m not worried – the market has been fairly impulsive since brexit, need a bit of a rest to settle things down.
It’s interesting the systems best years besides 2009 were the bull market between 03-07 but you would think a bull market might starve it of trades but was still very profitable in that time
July 20, 2016 at 8:29 am #104727TrentRothallParticipantMissed another trade today, time and sales said there were approx 2000 traded at that price but not enough.
Will put a sneaky order in for the same price and quantity tomorrow. Murphys law says it will gap up 5% though..
July 24, 2016 at 10:20 am #104786TrentRothallParticipantI’m having a issue uploading trades into tws.
I have 10 open positions with about 1% capital remaining but it just cancels the orders for monday when i upload them besides 2??(there is 9 all together) Not exactly sure whats going on but hopefully can get hold of IB tomorrow for some info
July 24, 2016 at 11:39 pm #102710Nick RadgeKeymasterSounds like it’s not allowing any trades over and above available capital
July 24, 2016 at 11:53 pm #104861TrentRothallParticipantbut it allows me to place 2 trades that will use margin…
July 25, 2016 at 12:12 am #104862TrentRothallParticipantI had 3 sells this morning, so i waited until the first one sold the i could place the full 9 orders.. Not ideal but it worked. Will look into it today
July 27, 2016 at 8:18 am #104863TrentRothallParticipantSpeaking with IB it turns out tht a fair few stocks on the ASX aren’t marginable, they have a way of calculating it using daily volume, mkt cap, volatility etc. So it depends on what your’e holding whether you will be able to buy more than 10 positions or not.
A lot of resource stocks have been coming up lately so it seems a lot f these don’t fit the criteria to be marginable, that’s why IB have been cancelling my orders. But previously i have held 19 positions without any issues, so it’s a bit confusing one.
Not ideal but will see how it goes
July 29, 2016 at 8:37 am #102711TrentRothallParticipantJuly’s Results
I would say i learnt the most this month in terms of systems trading. Up until the 20th it had been a relatively flat month with very few trades and mostly losses. I was coinciding it was going to my first negative month which for some stupid reason i was looking forward to. A box that has to be ticked somewhere along the journey so might as well do it now.
Then a lot of resource stocks were getting filled and this made for the most volatile period in terms of account P/L so far. On Thursday all my losing trades decided to gap up nicely to keep the larger losses i was holding to small plus some small wins gaped up also. I think my account when up 6% on Thursday. It also helped that i got fiilled in PLS at the low when it didn’t show in Amibroker and this turned into a 30% win! I count it as a bonus trade.
So i learnt that you need to put yourself in a position to make profits even when you don’t think they will arise. A lesson i learnt by not trading over Brexit also, that cost me around 7%ish. Also you need to take the good with the bad.
20 Trades
7.4% Return
Total Return – from 11.4.16
85 Trades
73% Win rate
Win/Loss ratio – 1.16
Profit factor – 3.13
20.7% return
20% was my end of year goal so i am happy to hit that this early! Hopefully it stays above it.,.

You can see the effect of the trades from last Thursday in the trade tracker equity curve, a nice jump up.

August 3, 2016 at 5:55 am #102712TrentRothallParticipantWasn’t happy when i missed getting a fill in SWM but sometimes you get lucky… Will be interesting to see where it opens tomorrow, where i would have sold
August 3, 2016 at 6:39 am #104967LeeDanelloParticipantSWM. I put in a limit order for an exit at 99c yesterday and didn’t get triggered. That price was around 3% from the low. Nick suggested 3 to 5% and it gapped down again today. What a nasty bitch that was.
