They get filled on a first in basis I believe, you don’t know how many or how few positions will hit the LMT order. I don’t always use the API only when it is required to manage positions. The API hasn’t had to close any positions since I’ve been using the system in the first few months.
Yesterday being a weak day and with 60 orders I thought I would have more fills also, but it is just how it worked out I guess. The day before I had 15 orders and about 7 fills.
When I was paper trading I reset the account balance to my actual real-time trading account balance to get a more realistic view of how it will feel trading, then just traded it how it should be traded
June 17, 2016 at 4:48 am #104366TrentRothallParticipantYesterday was the first day my systems index filter switched to defensive mode, so today i had about 19 orders instead of the 36 that would have been placed if the filter wasn’t on. The idea is to only take higher quality trades when the market is moving down.

June 17, 2016 at 5:57 am #102703ScottMcNabParticipantI am using a lower buy limit when market moving down (larger atr drop needed for entry) but haven’t been able to get an index filter to work yet…encouraging to hear its working for you. I think I will revisit it.
Thanks Trent
June 17, 2016 at 6:19 am #102704TrentRothallParticipantNo it doesn’t go to cash at all just takes the better trades instead of all available ones which it normally would

June 17, 2016 at 7:20 am #104373TrentRothallParticipantYeah works for me, smooths the equity curve and lessens DD
July 1, 2016 at 1:23 am #102705TrentRothallParticipantJune’s Results
A very bitter sweet month for me. A combination of bad luck and not trusting myself over brexit on monday cost me a few % should have been well into double figures. A few trades didn’t trigger in my account because the low wasn’t quite there but they triggered in Amibroker, one was a 18.2% win and naturally the others were all winners to!
But i am still happy so not all is lost – live and learn. Next 1000….
29 Trades
8.2% return
Total Return – from 11.4.16
65 Trades
49 Wins
16 Losses
75% win rateWin/Loss ratio of 0.99
Total Return 13.3%
July 1, 2016 at 5:03 am #102706Nick RadgeKeymasterGreat effort Trent – a job well done.
I made 5.7% for my ASX MR system for June – but missed trading on Wednesday due to travel. That cost me 11%…
July 1, 2016 at 8:12 am #102707TrentRothallParticipantI think missing profits prrobably hurts more than losing.. At least going into drawdown would have meant i was following the system. I should have hit 15% for June if all my trades filled and i traded on Monday – that would have taken me to my end of year goal i had set already.
Ah well
Only 1 entry signal today from 500 stocks, shows how strong the bounce has been
July 4, 2016 at 9:42 am #102708TrentRothallParticipantzero signals today which is a first and zero open positions, sold my last open positions this morning

You have a proven trading plan that has been well thought out and extensively tested. You’re in the 1%.
