i had that issue too and i was confused by it when trading discretionary in the US, because i had a cash account i needed US funds to buy positions and the changing dollar value would change my AU account balance a fair bit. Luckily for me our dollar was dropping so i was making money on my US funds, otherwise i would be in a bit of DD i think.
April 18, 2016 at 6:51 am #102671Nick RadgeKeymaster@Scott Yes, I use Share Trade Tracker in one account which trades various strategies across both US and ASX. i do the hedge on the US portion.

April 22, 2016 at 8:17 am #102673TrentRothallParticipantToday i had a order for PRY.asx at $3.58 – the Low was $3.58 i got filled in Amibroker on the exploration but not even a partial fill in my IB account… frustrating.
Weekly Wrap
Been trading for 2 weeks with only 4 closed trades and 2 open (should be 3… ) been a bit slow, maybe because the XAO has been straight up for a fair chunk of it.

April 26, 2016 at 8:09 am #102674TrentRothallParticipantOne of my sold trades last week i didn’t get filled on the open which i thought was strange, upon speaking to Nick he told me that using a MKT order will not allow me to get filled in the opening auction. Switched to using a LMT order 5-10% below the last close to get the opening price.
No action today, few pending orders for tomorrow. 1 Sell
April 26, 2016 at 10:51 am #102675ScottMcNabParticipantSo for straight up buy or sell orders on open best to use mkt with time in force set to OPG to try and mirror open price used in the Amibroker backtest ? :S
April 26, 2016 at 11:11 am #102676TrentRothallParticipantQuote:A MKT order can only execute once price has traded. On the ASX the first trade to occur will be the open auction which was 1.345. If the stock was offered over, then a MKT order will hit the next available bid, which in your case was 1.335. On the ASX use a LMT order and place it 5% below the prior days closeThat’s how Nick explained it to me, so you need a LMT order to be involved in the opening auction to get the proper opening price. Use a LMT order with time in force set to DAY if its valid for a day i guess, that will get the opening prices
