Have been paper trading for just over a month now, everything is functioning as it should with the system. Will start trading it live in a few weeks because i am going away next week for a few days so no point in starting before then i think.
Total trades so far including open positions
20 Trades
13 Winners
7 Losses65% winners, which is just a touch below backtest results so basically on track. Tiny sample though
Total return is 4.1%
Pretty smooth month no real bad losses although there is a open position in WBC which is down 6.2% at the moment…

Paper trading is complete! Everything seemed to work how it should with the system, the only issue that arose was when the days low was exactly at my buy limit which caused a partial fill due to not enough shares available at my price. Nick said this happens occasionally.
Will start trading next week when i am back home. **cue market crash**

Started paper trading a system that is a combination of two separate ones. It takes fewer signals when my index filter turns down, but these signals have a greater chance of being a win. When the index is up the trading frequency increasesDon’t know if i will trade it yet but i just want to make sure backtests/ explorations match realtime trades so i can trade it in the future if wanted. It seems to have greater returns when the market is trending hard one way or another compared too a sideways market, where the original is better.

Sold my first position for a 10% profit, so cant complain about that!

Zero orders for the first time since running the system during paper/live trades. Shows the ASX has had a good week.

April 17, 2016 at 4:35 am #102666ScottMcNabParticipantAre you using Share Trade Tracker to keep track of your paper trading as well as your live trading Trent ? Paper trading multiple systems from the same IB account would necessitate keeping track of the portfolio equity for each of the systems to enable accurate position sizing (based on unrealized P/L and commission costs) as look to open new positions ??
April 17, 2016 at 5:10 am #102667TrentRothallParticipantHi Scott
I only started paper trading my hybrid system after i started trading my main system live for that reason. So i am only using my IB sim Acc for 1 system. i am not going to use Share Trade Tracker for my paper trading account from now on, i will just use IB’s reports for checking positions.
I combined two systems into 1 if that makes sense, so i can take a signal from two separate setups while running 1 piece of code.
April 17, 2016 at 8:50 pm #102668Nick RadgeKeymasterShare Trade Tracker allows you to have unlimited portfolios. I trade several portfolios in one account and US Share Trade Tracker to manage them.
April 18, 2016 at 2:06 am #102669ScottMcNabParticipantDo you have different IB accounts for US and AUS markets Nick ? I am trying to get my head around the possibility of needing to account for currency conversion. It would seem a lot simpler for position sizing to keep an IB account for the US markets set to US currency and have a different IB account for AUS markets with currency set to aussie…or does Share Trade Tracker handle this ?
