My momentum system had me go long TSLA at the open. Jumped 20%, thanks Ellon! The entire system went up 6% today, jeez, been a while since I’ve seen that much momentum

Nice one Tim. I didnt want to buy TSLA last month… now +73%… I’ve never had a position like this one before. I expect to give a lot back but who knows… my back testing shows a few of these rides over the past 20 years… may be this is the one!

Same here with AMD, it just keeps going up. It is up 70% so far, TSLA up 20% and my AAPL stock is up 23% and I bought it last month. I can only imagine a pullback either in the greater market or one of these stocks but we shall see I guess, I just do what my system tells me, my gut has failed me too many times.

Tesla been breaking my heart since July (well basically since the 1st Noosapalooza) i had some support lines drawn on the chart that it had respected previously and was going to buy if it bounced off it. for some reason i missed it, rocket ship since!

Current sentiment reminds me of April/May 2013 when TSLA first broke out above $40 on it’s way to $260. I was lucky enough to be involved in that move but was a white-knuckle ride

And it is still going up like a rocket ship, this morning it was up 40% from when I bought, that concerns me, if my system didn’t buy it I would have already taken profits at this point. I am not used to a stock going up this fast. 40% gain in 2 days reminds me of bitcoin lol.

My momentum system is up +12% for Feb.
Mean Reversion system is up +9% for Feb. I’d just be happy if could close out the month with that.

Never thought I’d be shutting the systems down in the same month it hits new equity highs lol. Unless a miracle occurs tomorrow I go to cash…I do not think I have ever seen the market fall this far this fast, but hey…

Or we could see another V shape so I go to cash and the market rallies like it did last December, which is what my system is still trying to recover from. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. I care but overall I am not feeling any pain, its just the way the process works and I am only really giving back 2 months of gains unless of course, we have a catastrophic day tomorrow as well. The money I put in these investments I consider gone anyway, so losing is not a big deal.

Wow…some open on ASX..I’m out for March too it looks like. I too have given back the gains for 2020

MR HFT: -11.5% (Drawdown back to 28%)

Momentum Systems:

NDX Aggressive: -8.7% (19% drawdown) The drawdown is because of the radical market change this month.
ROR: -9.7%% (30% drawdown) Same issue. This system was up by almost 20% this month.

Moving Average Systems:

SPX: -8.4%

It is easy to explain why my systems haven’t surpassed market performance.

My MRV lost a lot this month because the market never really reverted the last few days, it just kept declining.

I have only been running the momentum systems for a little over a year and they had some bad luck last December and then this month, I mean, they were both up nearly 15 and 20% this month before falling back down, it is only a matter of time before they surpass the indexes.
