Well done Mike…!!!
Most ASX/NDX Momo systems took a RIP in March. Looks like you avoided much of the rip and only took a ‘paper cut’. Nice work!!!
April 5, 2021 at 7:05 am #113160MichaelRodwellMemberThanks Glen. Pretty much summed up by AMAT +70%
My ASX System runs a super tight index filter and in 3 tranches now so I dumped a few loser early. A bit of luck I think.

10 positions
Worst rank held 15When I designed the system I felt more comfortable with less position risk.
My ASX100 system has 7…
May be the next will be 5!
April 7, 2021 at 4:22 pm #113189TaranveerSinghMemberI’m on 10 positions with worst rank 20. I started testing with 5 using volatility position sizing but noticed that sometimes 5 positions got filled without full capital being employed. Lucky adjustment for me. I’m sure the concentrated strategy would make more on the upside in the reverse situation.

+1.98%Much like last month. I managed to hold a few good positions that have paid for a lot of paper cuts.
While I was updating my numbers this morning I was reflecting on my journey so far. While my NDX momentum system hasn’t performed as I would have liked, I felt proud when I went back over my VAMI and realised I have dug my way out of a DD over a 12m period. I could have got lucky and escaped that DD but I didnt. Thats ok.

+1.62%More #PushingButtons and more waiting. I feel a little bit envious of those with NDX systems smashing it out of the park this month but also grateful to be making some money with minimal effort and stress.
Towards the end of the month a few of my NDX positions took at decent hit which eroded a fair amount of open profits. $MRNA was the saviour keeping me in the black.
Happy enough with the ASX system which continues to dig out of the drawdown. $ILU.ax a big help!
The most important thing I have noticed over the past few months is I am gaining good separation from the markets and the money in them. From time to time I find myself hoping or wanting for greater profits but this is really dissipating as I focus on just running the systems and getting on with life.
May be next month I will be on the winners board.

+1.53%Pushed the buttons and got out of the way this month. A few times I found my self comparing (mainly when I read Nick’s TLT email updates) as I am lagging on both my systems and the broader markets.
With the market feeling quite hot I have had some concerns that I will be destroyed by another sharp sell off – ah well. Let it be.

I’m still teetering very close to my initial equity investment and can’t help but to want to create a buffer so I’m ready for the next drawdown but accept that I may have many drawdowns ahead that don’t care about my thoughts.

October 3, 2021 at 3:02 am #113934ScottMcNabParticipantJournals are good places for rambling….cathartic….been testing a lot of rotational systems in last few months…all of mine have a 2 year (or more) stretch of being underwater somewhere in the backtest…..and momo crashes are often pretty brutal ways to enter the drawdown….rotation systems seems to be least “labor intensive” day to day but also appears to be most psychologically demanding…impressive resilience Mike
October 4, 2021 at 10:49 pm #113936MichaelRodwellMemberThanks Scott!
Sitting through 2 years of drawdown is probably easier in theory than in practice although I have come to a place of peace with it. I don’t really have any choice and I did choose to trade longer term strats with less workload to suit my personal situation. In some regards I think it has been going against my personality but it’s been a good exercise now that I am accustomed to it. In the past I would watch the market like I was a day trader while my monthly strats would plod along losing money now I don’t watch too much… just push the buttons and hope for the best. LOL
October 5, 2021 at 9:14 am #113939SaidBitarMemberI have had long period of drawdown before certainly it is not easy but the drawdown period can be divided into two areas. The first is the one that the account is descending and making the DD goes deeper and deeper this is not easy. The second when the account starts to recover, you are still in DD but you are crawling out of it.
