200ma often acts as support, if the big boys all dumped stock at the 200ma i’d expect price to go lower. Possibly on a break of the 200ma

I have taken a different approach to my MR trading this month. My backtests look good even when the market is under stress. Also I do not trade MR with leverage.
So I have been trading through this volatility.
On Monday I went down 6% and had second thoughts. Today I went up nearly 5%. I am going to hang in there.

How is the short side of things going Len?

In January and most of February the short side was awful. When the market turned down the shortside perked up. But it was interesting that the long side has been making significant profits in this downturn.

The shortside has been profitable in my backtesting but it is very difficult to trade. Problems include an inability to short the stock which isn’t included in the backtests and some big losses. Not for everybody.

The AUD tanked 40% during the GFC when there was flight to the USD. We could do the same, except from a much lower level.

lol…I remember going short in early 2001, then I remember getting quickly stopped out with huge slippage when the Bank of Japan intervened and sent everything awry…

I’m only short as my accounts are USD domiciled and long some US stocks in my strategic portfolio. The conversion back to AUD should be good, but not just yet.

I’m not short outright like I was – got squeezed out on that quick pop to 0.74.
