First time since trading I am fully loaded with my MRV system. 30 trades held on my Rus 1000 system. Feels good.
July 4, 2017 at 9:20 am #106794CAIHuangMemberUS Russell1000 MRV system – 50% LVR
1st month performance: 5.1%Still paper trading it ATM but happy with the first months performance in a choppy market
July 27, 2017 at 10:31 pm #107195CAIHuangMemberHow are everyone’s US MRV systems going this month? Mine has been treading water and obviously the markets haven’t been that volatile so not a lot of action. Until the last week where it picked up two nasty trade. Looking at a return of -1.0% for the month at this stage. Volatility seems to have picked up this week though as earnings reports are being released to the market, so hopefully should get a lot more active. The twitters gap on earnings was quite shocking, hope there isn’t too many more big open gaps like that.
If it weren’t for 2x trades however, my performance would be quite a bit better for this month.
NTRS – 9.7%
TWTR – currently – 13%They both killed me with massive gaps down. Did other people pickup these 2x trades in their systems?
Just curious.July 28, 2017 at 1:25 am #107257Nick RadgeKeymasterMOC is currently +0.86%
HFT is currently -3.14%July 28, 2017 at 9:09 am #107258JulianCohenParticipantYup I got Twitter. I’m sure a lot of us did as we all are looking for stocks that drop. It’s just that sometimes they don’t recover for a few months ha ha.
Next 10,000 trades Luke. I was just thinking to myself yesterday that I was almost back to an account equity high. Thinking like that never got no one no where that’s for sure
July 28, 2017 at 10:18 am #107262SaidBitarMemberThis month is ugly either there is no volatility or things become nasty like yesterday i remember I checked at one point i was up a good sum then the market closed and i was down the same amount
Regarding TWTR i have this hero
July 28, 2017 at 11:59 am #107263CAIHuangMemberOnly 2nd month trading the system so just wanted to see how others were going.
Agree with your quote of Nick’s famous quote Julian “Next 10,000 trades”.
July 28, 2017 at 11:29 pm #107264AnonymousInactiveMy MRV systems trades Russell 2000.
Down just over 1% this month and pretty quiet. It had a couple of trades down 20%. One of them was ahead and gapped down 35% overnight, so doing ok considering! Win percentage rates seems to be staying steady but win/loss ratio took a hit!
Decision not to hedge had been a winner this month though!
July 29, 2017 at 12:46 am #107265CAIHuangMember35% gap down geez!
Just curious what ppl have for an MRV exit?
I have:
SellSetUp = C > Ref(C,-1);So my TWTR trade is still on. Never really considered anything else like:
SellSetUp = C > O;I know my system is tested for these conditions and maintains a strong edge over time. I’m sure slight variances with an exit wouldn’t result in much of a difference in the systems metrics anyway. Stress testing would have tested out those issues with entry and exit variances.
Just thinking out loud I guess.Good to see my system with 23 positions even though it took another hit last night.
July 29, 2017 at 1:53 am #107267Nick RadgeKeymasterThese are the ‘psychological’ hurdles that are faced with every system and is why I suggest ‘looking inside’ the system is a worthy pursuit. You’ll probably see plenty of these things have happened in the past, but they tend to get brushed over in a backtest.
Good example why sim trading is a waste of time…
July 29, 2017 at 12:29 pm #106795AnonymousInactiveSame here, going sideways / slightly up for the month. I also got TWTR but setup was on the day prior to the gap so got filled on the open on the gap lower. I have had others that have gapped lower after entry and have just as many that have gapped up, works both ways.
I got COL on 27th at 107.79, the low was 107.69, yesterday’s close 113.73. Over time all is good. -
