Nick ,
Perhaps you could run a short video on how to run multiple accounts on one IB workstation. Also which version of batchtrader are you running?
I still run v1.1 and run two ib workstations with 2 instances of batchtrader. I notice the last version of batchtrader says you only need one instance of batchtrader to run multiple accounts. I’m not sure if that means you open two ib workstations both of which are run on one instance of batchtrader or one ib workstation with multiple accounts and the latest version of batchtraderMay 29, 2017 at 2:00 am #106998JulianCohenParticipantI have two accounts as well and the guys at IB have no idea how to set them up the way that I want.
I have a 2nd login to the main account so that allows me to run IB Gateway on the VPS machine, with multiple instances of Batchtrader, actually I use Smart API now, running through the Gateway. Then I log into TWS using the secondary log in on my laptop so I can see what it going on and I use that to exit trades.
I just opened a second account which is linked to the main account, and IB techies don’t know how to allow the second log in on the original account to have access to the new account. They made me fill out a form then didn’t change anything and now I have to wait for the non changes to be approved before I can do it again.
If anyone knows the correct permissions then I won’t bother asking the techies cos they actually don’t know.

Ok try this
go to Account Management
–> Access Rights
–>users
in the bottom of the page you can select the account that you want
then press on 2nd User
another window will open and ask you to input the user name and password
and then this user will have access for this accountso if you have two users you can do the same for all the accounts then both of them will have rights for all the accounts
May 29, 2017 at 9:31 pm #107006Nick RadgeKeymasterThat won’t work Said. That’s designed for a second party (spouse, employee, etc) to log into the same account.
My setup is a Financial Advisor master account. Under that I have several accounts all in the name of my trading company as trustee for my family trust.
You ‘may’ be able to run the same style via a Family and Friends account.
What this means is that you have a master account and below that you have sub-accounts. In a normal scenario those sub accounts would be for your friends and family for which you are doing some trading. However, in your case, each sub account would be in your own name or chosen entity.
You can then log into TWS via the master account and access each sub-account on the same platform. Here is mine:
For day to day operation I simply open one TWS via the master account login. I then have duplicated the new API for each system (3 in total). I then connect the relevant API to the relevant account via that one TWS login.
I also note that IB also offers a ‘Linked Accounts’ facility, here which looks to apply to my Advisor Setup and the Family & Friends setup:
May 29, 2017 at 11:22 pm #107009JulianCohenParticipantNick any advice as to someone at IB who knows how to set this up correctly?
May 29, 2017 at 11:32 pm #107010LEONARDZIRParticipantNick,
What version of batchtrader are you using? The newest version allows you trade multiple accounts from one instance of batchtrader.
LenMay 30, 2017 at 12:20 am #107014Nick RadgeKeymasterJulian – I have put a call into the head of IB Australia. Will revert.
Len – I don’t use Batchtrader anymore. I use the new one which is discussed at the end of this thread:

May 30, 2017 at 1:15 am #107016LEONARDZIRParticipantNick,
To clarify: you open one workstation with the master account, and connect a copy of your API for each sub account.
LenMay 30, 2017 at 1:16 am #107019Nick RadgeKeymasterLen – yes. See above post for further instructions.
May 30, 2017 at 1:33 am #107020TrentRothallParticipantmine operates like nick, i log into my main tws then i can just flick between my two accounts. I think my second acc is a family and friends account.
