Daily -4.8% newly launchedAdded a new MOC system and also a daily TSX system on a small account. Most of the DD for TSX daily was attributed to HC not selling MOC, and then gapping below sell order the next day by over 25%. Turns out certain exchanges don’t support MOC orders. Commissions are high as well. Will review in 6 months.
Goals for the next month are to finalize two more systems.

A few user errors with ASX systems this month.
For the ASX momo, I entered one of the trades a few days late as the order didn’t fill and I forgot to check it.
I also had a hiccup with the ASX swing. I am certain I entered the orders on IB, and either I forgot to upload them on basket trader, or they were cancelled by accident.
In future I’ll be making a point of checking the ASX pending trades are showing when I load the MOC orders. This mistake meant missing out on a 10.31% profitable trade.Slippage
I am reviewing the TSX & ASX swing systems and deciding if they are viable trading long term. As an example, my system took a 13.11% profitable trade this week, but in reality there was only $30,000 of volume at my entry price (for 5 minutes) and there was no way of getting into it. I have a few solutions in mind. At this stage most of the slippage has occurred in the last 2 months, prior to that real time trading was generating slightly better results than the back test.

Thoughts from the last month;
1) Baby brain is REAL if I say dumb sh*t … that is why
2) I’ve had to learn to embrace nausea, being hungry AF and feeling vomity over random food. You blokes might wonder WTF it has to do with trading … well, the lesson has been to surrender and ask for help. Trading can be such a lonely endeavor. Having mates in the market and asking for help will help us to improve as traders.3) I discontinued the ASX & TSX swings. After a few weeks research and contemplation, the divergence between real time VS back tests were too great. For example, my TSX swing made +6% in the last 3 weeks. When I reviewed the trades, the trades that made up the majority of the profit were at the low of the day with about $3k of volume. Despite increasing liquidity filters, the problem persisted.
4) MOCs were up 2.5% overall, then profits were pretty much wiped out in 2-3 trading sessions. Will review the systems this month. (Funnily enough, they recovered half the July drawdown last night).
5) Been working on some MR systems for a few months, been feeling stuck with it. Signed up for an additional 3 months of mentoring with Nick to get things flowing again. Also collaborating with a mate on an all weather system for super. Looking forward to getting my trading MOJO back.
Happy trading for August.

Been a productive month. After swearing I would never ever ever EVER short, I looked into it and it made sense, under certain conditions.
I like the diversification that it adds.This months focus is on;

Fully launching a combined set of MR strategies

Continuing to test short term multi strategy / lower frequency strategies

Continuing to develop an all weather strategy
September 2, 2023 at 3:42 am #113456BenOsbornParticipantI also hadn’t planned on trading a short system initially but implemented one last August. It has returned 7.78% over the past 12 months with a drawdown of 3.39%. Nothing to write home about in % terms overall but when combined with the other MOC systems backtesting shows it has a decent impact over time. Plus I would be 7.78% further in the hole without it! haha

Took about 8 weeks off trading in total due to personal circumstances. Have been reviewing systems regularly to stay in touch with the market.
Not much trading happened in October due to most systems being switched off and time off.December 3, 2023 at 3:13 am #115876KateMoloneyParticipantASX Momo – Cash

ASX Momo – Cash

MOC #1 Long only +1.77%
MOC #2 Long / Short -4.3%MR – on hold
Most of the damage on MOC long short was on the short side from 2 trading sessions in December, despite a high stretch and RUI stocks only.
Put the MR system on hold as real time results were not matching the back tests. In the process of trouble shooting this.
2024 will look different for me trading wise. Have halved our trading account due to a parent being diagnosed with brain cancer. We are the only family close by and I’ll be the primary carer. This move will bring financial stability to our family through this difficult time.
The interesting thing is, I have become quite detached from trading results. Changed up my trading routine, which has also really helped.
Next steps will be to figure out what systems to keep VS put on hold. I’ve noticed some of my systems don’t perform as well with lower capital (mainly due to system missing out on higher priced shares – I think?). A potential solution could be trading less positions per system to ensure I have more systems.
Happy trading in 2024 everyone.

I see that as a good thing

Try splitting the universe up by a price filter and then apply lower priced stocks to the lower capital ones. If the results in the backtest are poor then that could be the issue.
