How is everyone feeling in this recent downturn regarding how to invest across various asset classes to ensure we don’t end up over exposed to any one class of assets?
The reason I ask is that I find myself now thinking about how to better look at my total portfolio/investment strategy. For example, should I focus on some gold holdings in volatile times. And the big one I am sure many of us are thinking of is property. I am sure a number of us here would own property whether it be your own home or for residential investment and even commercial property investment.
What does everyone think about property in general? My opinion is that it is going to suffer a bit in the coming months/years given the potential for a lot of over-leveraged property investors likely going to find it tough to meet mortgage commitments in the face of unemployment stress. I’m in Australia, so my perspective is generally on the Australian property front, however understanding it from other markets globally (like US perspective) would also be interesting to understand.
