Just noticed the following and thought I’d see if others are seeing similar or if it’s just on my end…..
When logging into TWS… looks like IB have a new client version (different look and I noticed the download of a new client when opening up etc)
When the API connected/opened I noticed an error in the lower message box, which was new to me…
From the log file this is the reference to 2158:
2020-05-29 18:34:17,449 INFO : [6] – [Broker] Error ID: -1 Error Code: 2158 Error Message: Sec-def data farm connection is OK:secdefnj
2020-05-29 18:34:19,384 ERROR : [11] – Code: 2158, Request Id: -1, Sec-def data farm connection is OK:secdefnjThen in TWS I got the “TWS Price Management ALGO” popups so I’ve disabled all of the ALGO stuff…
Everything seems to work as my orders were sent and appear in TWS etc… so no dramas there it would seem….. my orders are for MR….. so no MOC / close activity… so just a heads up for the MOC guys in case there’s a drama etc…..
I know you’re probably flat chat on other stuff atm Nick…. so I don’t need a fix or anything to trade tonight etc… just a heads up/FYI for all if maybe/maybe not a problem for others etc..(it might just be me etc)..let me know if you require further details etc. I can forward you the log file if required etc….
May 29, 2020 at 9:00 am #111536Nick RadgeKeymasterYes. I’m getting the same and in fact I’m unable to run two API’s. My TWS locks.
May 29, 2020 at 9:03 am #111538GlenPeakeParticipantahhh bugger Nick…
I can run 2 MR API’s OK ….FYI my client ID’s for each one is
Client ID 2 (for the first MR API)
Client ID 3 (for the second MR API)May 29, 2020 at 9:10 am #111539Nick RadgeKeymasterOK. So using any client ID other than 1 has fixed the issue.
May 29, 2020 at 9:16 am #111537AnonymousInactiveI have been seeing this error code for some time, with no bearing on how my MOC trading has been going.
I even asked Nick about it when I first started seeing it each day in September last year. He said this was the response from the API developer:
The good news that none of these alarms are api related
The first one is just displaying that tws is connected to market data provider.
The second alarm message is from IB, they display this message whenever the limit order is more than a certain percentage from the current market priceSo from my experience and Nick’s comments they are both just an annoyance more than anything.

May 29, 2020 at 9:18 am #111541AnonymousInactiveI run 4 instances of the API at the same time.
You need to set a separate client ID in the startup window for each instance.
In fact I have the program installed in four separate folders, with four separate shortcuts to the desktop for launching each of the four, this way I don’t confuse any of them.
My four instances hold a maximum of 370 orders combined. They all seem to run fine and execute well even under heavy loads.
