Hi Everyone! My name is Gareth Evans and I’ve just finished the mentoring course. My engines were switched on in December 2024 and I’m trading full position size, so pretty exciting to see what I learn in 2025. I’m taking this whole space very seriously, hoping to scale it whilst understanding it will be an evolution and not a straight line. A bit about me; I’m 44 and a big finance nerd with 2 decades spent in CFO roles doing accounting, tax and reporting stuff for corporates. I’ve always had a passion for the markets but haven’t really made much profit from stocks which I found infuriating given I was building big fancy valuation models, doing competitor studies and predicting cash flows for 20 years out etc. Real analyst stuff albeit at the retail level. Financial model valuation vs market capitalisation as a concept was sacrosanct for me, and yet the market didn’t care. Prices did what they did for ages. I stumbled across Systematic Trading in around March this year and read or heard someone say ‘Investing is not an academic exercise’ which resonated. Anyway, I went down the rabbit hole and here we are. Now comes the discipline and time part. I’ll be trading 6 codes, 2 MR, 2 TF and 2 Momo’s this year whilst working on other code research and trying to hold down a day-job. Looking forward to connecting with others.
