Awesome Job Glenn! There is no denying that the rotational systems seem to be performing really well. In my opinion, They are the best strategy. The shorter strategies add some nice diversity, but the best performance lies with the rotational system. I think it is easy to see why:
1. Fewer commissions: This helps a lot because your only putting in maybe half a dozen to a dozen trades per year.
2. Holding onto positions longer: Gives the strategy more time to work.
3. The upside bias of the market: The system design itself
4. Long-term capital gains rate here in the US. I made more money than I thought last year as to when I got out of TSLA I had to report long-term capital gains and not short-term. Long-term capital gains are only taxed at 20% instead of the usual income tax.In all my backtesting I have never gotten a shorter system to surpass my rotational systems, I keep trying though!
November 18, 2021 at 5:52 am #114049GLENNPREECEMemberThanks Tim.
I am a big fan of the rotational systems, if only for their simplicity. I’d love to explore them on more markets if it was possible to get accurate historical data.
I do however think that these systems look good in the current market conditions, which have had such a strong run up over the past 18 months or so. They recognise however that they also tend to sit in cash for lengthy periods so there are periods I wont be getting any returns, so it balances out. I do still like the shorter term systems, which perform well & whilst don’t shoot the lights out, just keep ticking along with nice steady returns. For that reason, I tend to have the rotational systems in my Super and the others will eventually be used for producing a supplementary income…..”eventually”
Cheers

Bumpy ride this month. Was on both MRNA and DMP(.ax) each shedding +20% in a matter of days… Diversity through other systems saved the day though, and both stocks recovered more or less, so overall results for the month were good.
Happy trading all!

Almost a full year of trading most systems, and have to say that I’ll take the results, particularly in a year where I relocated countries. For 2022 I would like to introduce one more MR system, testing for which is well underway.
Happy new year all. Hope you have a extremely prosperous 2022.
Happy trading.

A sea of red this month, but I take it with a grain of salt having come off some very big high last year. The MR system took the biggest hit, but it also had the smallest allocation of capital and had gained nearly 70% in 3 months. The biggest overall drawdown is really in the NDX which when combined with Dec as taken a bit of a fall. Thankfully that system was partially sitting in cash, which tempered part of the losses.
Anyway, onwards an upward as they say.
Happy trading.

A pretty so so month for most of my systems. All rotational systems have gone to cash and only one stock left in the WTT, which ironically has been doing very well. Have been working with Nick on a MOC system, and kicked off trading it on the R1K and R2K this month using the API (thanks Nick / Craig for your help once again). Next for me will be to revisit my MR system, and see if I can develop one that trades through all markets. As the rotational systems are in cash, I will also take the time to revisit these and see if they need any tweaking.
Happy trading all.

Generally a positive month with the MOC and WTT systems performing well. Unfortunately the systems in cash were being held in the 20yr Bond (TLT), which decided to slide which offset a lot of the gains. The index filters for the ASX / NDX Rotational systems are back in the green so will be back in the market this month. Not sure the volatility is gone from the market yet, but just following the signals so lets see..
Happy trading all.

Absolutely hammered on my rotational systems, and they have now reverted back to cash for May. The MOC systems worked well as did the WTT, but my MR system will now be parked up for a closer look under the hood. Interesting times..
Happy trading.

Most systems in May were in cash. Had one position on WTT and that finally closed out. MOC systems took a big one day hit dropping around 9%, but then recovered well. It did make me revisit the systems to look at the daily volatility / swings. Whilst these systems have generally performed well, I noted that the MDD have often come from single day moves. Whilst they arent high by comparison to other system…they will still hurt. Knowing and feeling are too different things.
Happy trading.
June 9, 2022 at 9:19 pm #114820KateMoloneyParticipantIt is certainly a tough market.
Made some nice gains on my MOC last 10 days … only to be wiped out and then some last night. One step forward, two steps back at the moment.

Another tough month for the MOC systems, but very much in line with historical performance. Its never nice to suffer these drawdowns, but I find solace in the fact that eventually brighter times will be ahead. Off to Vanuatu for a break. First holiday in a couple of years so will be nice to get away to some warmer weather. Haven’t decided yet if I’ll trade during that week, but will take the laptop and just see what the internet is like. Might be nice to just sit back and relax..
Happy trading all.
