Reviewing first week of Canadian orders.

4 trades executed, only one suffered slippage of 1 cent.

Placed MOC orders on all positions on Friday afternoon local time. IB cancelled some of them (not all). Solution moving forward will be to use limit orders either placed on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.

Terry, an error message came up but I accidentally clicked OK. Something to do with the exchange I think.

Easily solved with limit orders.

So, I’ve dealt with this tonight. This just means that when you set up your IB account you didn’t include Canada in the list of locations you wished to trade.

Login to the IB website. From the main menu

Manage Account
Trade Configuration
Permissions

This will take you to a new window where you just need to tick the box next to Canada under North America.

My permission was granted immediately although they do have a standard message that it might take 1-2 business days.

Next, you need to amend your Watchlist Library to exclude everything but TSX. Under ‘Listing Exchange’, unclick all exchanges but TSX.

For the version for back testing, temporarily untick ‘Delisted’ and the same list of exchanges will come up. Again untick all exchanges but TSX and then retick ‘Delisted’.

Good news – I’ve just finished rerunning MCSs with the amended Watchlist and it made only a minor difference to the overall results.

Hi Terry,

I already have set up trading permissions on for Canada.
It just won’t let me trade micro caps for some reason. Have rechecked permission settings and can’t see anything missing.

It looks as if my ‘solution’ isn’t.

I now have a query in to Norgate as I haven’t been able to exclude microcaps.

Terry,  it says PURE microcap, and on IB those stocks have a little red mark beside the name.

Below from a quick google search.

I have the same issue. Where you able to resolve this? I did contact IB and they just told me IBKR would only offer opening transaction on CSE (PURE) stocks when the market cap > 400M CAD threshold.

Just thinking out loud, if there is a restriction with IB on microcaps, either have to use another broker or code something into system. See if it still stacks up without these trades….

Julian, have you had any issues with your orders?

I haven’t had a fill yet so I don’t know. IB has accepted all the orders though.

I set the position size this way in RT

QtyRound: if(C > 0.1 and C < 1.00, 500,100) This will round automatically I have my Liquidity settings at: MA(C*V,5) >= 2,000,000 and MA(V,50) > 200,000 and V > 300,000

Maybe that is keeping me out of the microcaps ??

Having said that I have all the exchanges ticked for my current Watchlist.

Terry is there any reason not to include the others apart from TSX?

Hi Julian,

Similar to you, I have set the average T/O to $2 – $2.5M

Will try the other settings on vol you described to see if it makes a difference.

Are you with IB Australia?
