Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all healthy and doing OK, financially too!

I’m just about to buy a shelf company and wanted to check whether anybody had any thoughts as to why that might not be the best vehicle for my trading?

By the way, I read posts avidly so would like to thank everyone for going to the time and trouble to make them…hopefully I’ll be posting my own soon!

Couple of questions….what sort of shelf company? Do you mean a BVI or something like that?

What is your domicile, as that will affect the answer?

Sorry for the lack of information.

I’m based in Australia and want to use a company structure for tax minimisation purposes. I guess my concern was the risk that I in some way limit my access to IB functions/facilities.

I should probably say that this is not anything to so with a SMSF.

All my trading goes through a family trust where my trading company, Rainmaker Trading Pty Ltd” is the Trustee.

Rainmaker was my original vehicle setup in the early 90’s. It’s a basic company structure. The family trust was setup in the late 90’s as a more efficient tax vehicle.

Leaving this here in case anyone in the future is looking for a privacy related solution for an LLC in the USA. I use and loved my experience with them.

Anonymous LLCs [are completely legal and] can be done in a few states, but NM is the one with no yearly state filing fee.
