It was a request from me.

I’m trying to make an MOC system that runs on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and they have a lunch break between 12 and 1. Any order filled in the morning session will be closed with an MOC at midday if that MOC is placed in the morning session. So if you get a fill in the morning the SMART API places the MOC straight away which is then filled at the close of the morning session instead of the end of the day.

Doing this allows me to set MOC orders to halfway through the afternoon session and then they get filled correctly.

I’ve had an issue with my API sending orders to TWS in the last 4 trading sessions. The API states that it is connected to TWS, but once I hit the “Send Orders” button, it freezes and I get a “Not Responding” message in the header bar of the API. I have to force close the API 2 – 3 times before it will behave itself. Any ideas why this is happening?

Regarding the minimum LOT size it is feature of IB API 973 which is still in BETA so we’ll await proper release.

The process takes few seconds so you will notice a delay between the time you press send button and the orders to be placed in TWS.

The thing because it is checking the minimum tick for each order it can take some time depending on the number of orders placed just try to leave it till it finishes.

Mine takes around 5 seconds between the moment i hit send and the orders are placed

so just give it some time and check or if you do not want to check the minimum tick size just un select the option

Thanks Said. Mine is taking “more than a few seconds” i.e. it is still frozen after 1 – 2 minutes. It seems to worse half an hour before opening. I’ll try placing my orders way earlier to see if that makes a difference.

Check your internet speed.

I get 41.8 down and 18.1 up and the API takes a few seconds.

oh it happened to me
Today i was placing the orders for US MOC and it haggned the reason was WDAY I think it was delisted and the api was waiting for reply from IB

I had about 5 tabs open at the bottom of TWS and it was the options screen that was consuming 95% of the CPU capacity, with 85% Memory usage at the same time. Turning this off helped.

My internet speed is appalling.

Has anyone seen this before and know the solution?

Turns out something was corrupt in my .csv file that is uploaded to the api. I started fresh with a new file and no issues.
