Hi All,
Just a quick note to introduce myself. My name is Andrew Clunies-Ross.
I am old in age but extremely immature and ignorant in all things – but I prefer to think that I have just kept myself fresh.
I have been trading on a regular basis for about 10 years with some reasonable results for most of the time, but I have never quite broken totally free from the beginner’s cycle (if I am totally honest). My biggest problem is having faith in a system I don’t totally understand, but I hope to cure that through the mentor course.
I am also very technologically challenged. Indeed I am not even sure I am posting this to the right place. It has taken me a couple of days to work out what I think may be the right way to use the forum. I guess I shall find out.
A little more about me. I am 52, live in Melbourne and really enjoy keeping fit and active.
That’s all for now.
Cheers
Andrew

The templates for the systems at the end of the course are gold so don’t panic in the next few months. Sadly, for me coding is still a bit like reading a foreign language when on holiday…I know enough to find where the toilet is and how to get to the airport but attempting something more complex is always going to raise a few eyebrows. I am turning 50 and enjoy thinking how one day I will be fit and active. All the best.

I feel slightly more comfortable knowing I am not totally alone.

You and Craig certainly have your work cut out for you
August 1, 2018 at 12:18 pm #108931TimothyStricklandMemberWelcome aboard Andrew. This course is unlike any other. I have taken many of them and dropped an embarrassing amount of money to learn how to trade only to find out that I was focusing on the Quantitative skills instead of what Nick tries to teach and in my opinion, vastly more important Qualitative skills. Building a system where we understand intimately the positive expectancy will go a LONG way to becoming profitable. I used to get out of trades early so I could hurry and take my profits while holding on to the losers, waiting for them to turn around. I didn’t understand positive expectancy or that in a 50% system, having 16 losers in a row would happen if I traded long enough and that 10-12 losers in a row was fairly common. typically, no one (until I found Nick) teaches this stuff and its a damn shame!

CheersAugust 5, 2018 at 7:26 am #108927RobGilesMemberThank god you’re in here Andrew. I am 48 and arguably the most retarded coding / IT student Nick & Craig have ever taken on, and even I ended up with 2 systems after doing the course. Like Scott, the coding side of things was like learning a foreign language, and while I am far from being fluent, I can at least understand the basics. I find I need to get back in tune with AFL coding after not writing it for a period of time, as I quickly ‘rusty’. That being said, I plan to stick with it and slowly but surely build on my portfolio of systems. Reiterating Scott’s comments, the templates are very useful.
August 5, 2018 at 3:10 pm #108956TimothyStricklandMemberRob, the coding is challenging for me and I’m an engineer! However, my technical background I think helps me to learn the concepts faster than someone without them. I think its worth it to practice a little bit every week so we can avoid being rusty like you mentioned.
