Amibroker Processing Speed?

I’m using 6.30.5 and finding the backtesting extremely slow. Anyone else?

Yep..I’m using older version tho..seems a definite change in last few weeks..my brother just bought latest version of Amibroker last week…seemed even slower than my backtest when I was watching it over Teamviewer last night (not sure what impact Teamviewer would have on processor speed?)

I’m also using 6.30.5, a couple of months ago I noticed Explore/Backtest’s were slow….. i.e. Explore was taking 10minutes etc….. I then built a new Norgate Database etc…. which sorted it….

A few weeks later I had a ‘quirk’ with the backtest output e.g. for stock ‘XYZ’ which was @$5 it was buying 4400 shares and saying the total was = $20,000…, when it is actually equal to $22,000… this was showing up for many stocks in the backtest…. I even copied my Amibroker settings from a 2nd Amibroker PC to the dodgy one i.e. APX file to ensure the same Analysis/Explore settings etc…. but still no good… in the end I uninstalled Amibroker/Norgate and did a fresh install…. all good now, no noticeable speed degradation.

Glen I am glad that you noticed that the database seemed funny – a week ago I had one day where NDU, when left in automatic, was updating itself every 2-3 minutes for almost a day straight. This was the case on my home workstation and my remote VPS at the same time, so I assumed that Norgate had an issue. I don’t think I had any database corruption, because it sorted itself out, but these issues all could be related. Thomasz takes quite a bit of pride in how well Amibroker works with computer hardware (and frankly it is very good at maximizing resource usage such as RAM bandwith), so I don’t think problems are typically on his end.
