Diversifying With Bonds by Liz Moran

Liz Moran is a nationally recognised expert on fixed income assets or bonds. She is a regular contributor to The Australian newspaper and InvestSmart and she is the author of The Australian Guide to Fixed Income. Basically she’s Australia’s leading Bond Expert.

As an investor, I wanted to know more about bonds and how Nick and I could use them to diversify our portfolio. So we decided to invite Liz Moran to present at Noosapalooza® 2017 and were thrilled that she said yes!

Liz’s presentation was a great introduction to bonds and the feedback from delegates was excellent. Personally, I learnt so much and I now manage a bond portfolio via FIIG.

For 10 years Liz was a corporate and bank analyst at FIIG then her role shifted to one of author and editor of FIIG’s “The Australian Guide to Fixed Income”. Liz also was editor of FIIG’s newsletter, “The WIRE”.

Due to her extensive industry experience Liz was on the board of the Australian Investors Association.

Liz didn’t start her career in a client-centric role. Her first job out of university was in the recovery unit for Commonwealth bank. Her job was to decide when the bank needed to step in and recover assets. It was a distressing role as she witnessed family break downs due to losses and arguments over money. It also made her aware how important it is to protect your assets and to diversify.
