Hi All,
I am looking at moving my MOC systems from Tradestation to IB and was just looking for any tips, tricks or anything to watch out for.
From what I can see, all I need to do is run my orders in RealTest using the IB Basket Template and creating an orders file (I am familiar with this part as I have to do it for TradeStation) and then upload the file in BasketTrader and then hit transmit if everything looks ok?
Does it matter what timezone my PC or TWS is in? (currently I have to have my PC set to US Eastern for TradeStation)
Can I turn my PC off or do I need to keep it running? (I have to keep it running for TradeStation)
Any settings I need to watch out for?
Cheers,

If you’re using Multi-Day MR systems and you have SELL orders that need to be processed before any new BUY orders can be sent, as you’re using a CASH Account (No Margin etc)…. Then I set a “GoodAfterTime” in the BasketTrader template……. e.g. 09:30:30 US/Eastern
This way any SELL orders will be processed on market open (this will then free up cash in the cash account) and new buy orders will be sent at the GoodAfterTime 09:30:30 US/Eastern etc….just after the market has open and the SELLs have been processed etc.
Let me know if you need more details on this one…

I don’t usually have a problem, but last night 5 shorts didn’t get filled (all profitable of course) – were your trades shorts as well?
Terry
September 19, 2024 at 12:43 pm #116315BenOsbornParticipantYes, they were shorts. I spoke to IB but I was in the office so didn’t have all the trade details. I gave them one that I remembered and they said that they couldn’t see any reason why it didn’t fill.
They have raised a ticket on that one to start so I will let you know how it goes.
September 20, 2024 at 12:12 am #116316JulianCohenParticipantBen if they were shorts it was probably because there was no stock available to borrow at the time of entry.
I had the same issue with shorts, so much so that I only short RUI stocks now so that the probability of a fill is around 90% instead of 60% with RUT or RUA
September 20, 2024 at 3:46 am #116317TerryDunneParticipantMy unfilled orders were all RUI…
September 20, 2024 at 10:52 am #116318BenOsbornParticipantTurns out all my trades were only good to 13:30. I have just checked my orders file and IB is correct, good til 13:30. I was just looking on the realtest site on how to change it and Marsten has included an updated ExchangeMap file on someone’s post.
Costly error. Never goes the other way,
September 21, 2024 at 11:54 am #116319TerryDunneParticipantMine too…does anyone do something different?
September 22, 2024 at 2:29 am #116320JulianCohenParticipantTurns out I had that too…I change the Exchangemap file so hopefully it will be fine on Monday
September 22, 2024 at 4:09 am #116321TerryDunneParticipantHi Julian,
I’m sorry I don’t know what that means, nor what would be thee right time to have the orders expire…nor anything else really
September 22, 2024 at 8:58 am #116272BenOsbornParticipantMarsten posted an updated file here Orders – adjusting “good until time” for day trades – Questions – RealTest User Forum (mhptrading.com) if you don’t want to adjust yourself. Just replace the one that is in your realtest folder with this. I had no problem with my orders friday after this.
September 22, 2024 at 9:31 am #116322TerryDunneParticipantSo is there a consensus on what time orders should expire?
September 22, 2024 at 10:20 pm #116323BenOsbornParticipantI think MOC orders need to be placed by 15:45 or 15:50 (and can’t be modified after that) so 15:40 to be safe.
September 22, 2024 at 10:33 pm #116324TerryDunneParticipantThat rings a bell from years ago, but I’d wondered if maybe it was to do with the old API.
Thanks gents!
