The rubber hit the road for me on Friday with my first trades being executed, and it feels good to have that accomplished.
Went rather smoothly. Nick helped me get past a few rookie errors getting my orders into the API in the morning then it was all rather uneventful.
I headed off to lunch and cant remember when or even how I got home let alone that I had my first trades poised to hit the market that night.Next morning after the bacon and Berocca worked their magic I logged in to to see my orders executed exactly as they should.
Loaded trades into Share Trade Tracker and reconciled with IB, which was the longest part of the whole process; though everything seemed to take longer that morning.Goal for the next week is to execute the system with 100% perfection every day. Looking forward to the next 1000 trades.
August 15, 2022 at 7:24 am #114999StevenPolaMember1 week and 1 day since system went live. Very happy with perfect execution each day.
Next step to diversify with a few more MOC systems by the end of the month and develop a Rotational Strategy.
September 25, 2022 at 3:57 am #115007StevenPolaMemberTardy Update for AUGUST 2022.
MOC – 2.53%.
During September I have introduced another MOC system.
I have made ZERO progress on my Momo System development, but have forced time into my schedule to work on this over the next week.Something I found interesting about the original MOC system I developed which was based around mean reversion, I spend a fair bit of time working on ideas to remove draw down risk which made some decent MAR improvements. Then for no reason I can explain I removed the entry condition that my whole system was based originally based on to see what would happen. It gave an improved MAR with more consistent overall results and 1 less condition. Go figure………. This is the basis of the new system I began trading this month.
Also I have a questions if anybody reads this. I see some of you reporting WTT system results. WTF is WTT?

September 25, 2022 at 7:35 am #115054TerryDunneParticipantHi Steven,
I have this same issue frequently…I have an idea, but it doesn’t really work as I’d hoped, so I add some other criteria (or 2 or more) and it gets better, maybe even good every once in a while.
One of the things I have now built into my process is to run back tests with each of these lines of entry code removed, one at a time. Often enough I discover that some or all of the criteria don’t actually help. However, I end up with a ‘cleaner’ system, ideally with a rank, stretch and 1 selection criterion. On some of my systems I have 2, but these extra ones usually are only to apply a governor to individual stock volatility.
Good luck with the systems development, the fun part!

October 2, 2022 at 11:45 pm #115056StevenPolaMemberSeptember 2022 Update
Combined MOC Account -1.83%
I met my goal of finishing a workable Rotational System for the ASX which I will begin trading as soon as Self Wealth Account is set up and the Index Filter switches back on.
Interesting reading everyone’s updates this month on DD. My original MOC system which I am still trading is based on MR principals. This system has just hit record DD (18% – I began trading after the DD commenced). My focus in the system design was DD from the beginning, I don’t believe I have the intestinal fortitude to trade a 40 – 50% DD. The original system is however performing as I would expect in this market. For this month I will delve further down the rabbit holes of some filtering ideas I have read about to mitigate the DD in this environment.
I also have set the goal of a workable MOMO system for the US markets.
Good Luck for October………

November 14, 2022 at 8:18 am #115191StevenPolaMemberAfter this little surprise the remainder of the week progressed into the ancient Chinese torture of Death by 1000 cuts.
All well within normal expected operating parameters, but day after day of small losses during a week when the overall market is going up in a spectacular fashion is proving to be a test for the mental fortitude.
Might have to take up Yoga or Meditation or Class A drugs to help me through.

January 2, 2023 at 4:28 am #115222StevenPolaMemberA two for one entry
November MOC Combined: -0.53%
December MOC Combined: -1.21%Executed perfectly every day through November and December. I did take a step back in mid-November from looking at systems, code or anything to do with trading other than logging on to place the trades and record the results each day.
I was getting frustrated with a heap of small loosing trades one day after the other, but after getting away from the minute, the frustration dissipated. In essence I stopped trying to fix something that wasn’t broken.
The MOC systems I am running are well within normal operating parameters which I am happy with. I will simply continue to spend the required 10 mins every day placing the trades and recording the results. No doubt I will continue to test out new ideas as I see them, I will allocate a specific time each week to do that rather then obsess over it like I was.
I think since my last update I have made one small step closer towards Nirvana.
Still a long way from where I want to be with my trading, net step is to go back to the Rotational Systems and concentrate more on monthly systems rather then weekly. The time away to reflect helped me realise I was pushing to make a weekly system work because there was more trading to “do” rather than take advise and look towards a monthly systems. So hopefully by the next update I will be able to report that I have a monthly system ready to go for both Australian and US Markets. This is always where I should have been investing my time to meet my objectives……
February 1, 2023 at 10:29 am #115364StevenPolaMemberJanuary 2023
MOC Combined – 2.63%
Perfect execution in January, and my account is closer than a fruit fly to a rotting banana from its starting point.
Since last entry I have been working on Rotational Systems as planned. Goal now is to begin trading an Australian system and a US system in February. Next week will be about practically working through and thinking how I will place the orders, what type of orders to place for market opens and how I will “operate” the systems. If anyone wants to throw ideas on order types for market opens they will be gratefully received.
You all probably know this already, but I found good improvements in results by using market internals as part of the regime filter. Not original thinking on my part, and a lot of variants and rabbit holes to explore but well worth the hours put in.
A question – can anyone point me to where I can toggle “dividends” on and off in Amibroker as part of system evaluation. It was either Craig or Nick that made this change for me (turn them on) but I cant find any reference of where this adjustment is made.
Wishing everyone a profitable February………
