When optimizing my system I usually run the optimization test on the time frame 2005 – 2022.

I’m currently running shorter term optizimation tests (6 years and 4 years) to see the difference in results.

What time frame do you run your optimization test on when doing a 6/12 month review of the system?

I imagine best practice would be to use a shorter term metric (eg 12 or 24 months?)

Attached are the 2 year & 4 year optimizations.

The original 2005 – 2021 testing indicated best to have an 80 ROC.

The shorter term tests, particularly the 2 year one indicates a slight shift to 76 – 79 ROC is best.

One positive – the system is robust across all parametsrs in the chart.

Are you talking about finding the parameters to use for the next 6 months?

I run a short system on 2-3 years and a long systems off 5 years

Yes

I’m still figuring out my rhythm for checking system health.

Isn’t it every 6 or 12 months that we should be reviewing them?

Thanks for your input with the time frames. I did more optimization tests last night and it doesn’t seem to make much difference whether its 2/3 years or 4/5 years.

Logically it seems 2/3 years would make sense for the MOC systems.

I use 3 years for short term and 5 – 7 for longer term

Just posting this here, because it is a valuable learning re: choosing a flat spot when optimizing.

It seems I have been narrowing in too much, as opposed to zooming out when choosing a parameter.
