I currently run two systems:
1. NDX Month Rotation
– 2 tranches trading on the 1st and 15th of the Month2. ASX Monthly Rotational
– 3 tranches trading on the 1st, 10th, and 20th of the MonthAt the moment I have an IB account configured with 3 sub accounts. Two of these are allocated to the NDX system and one is allocated to the ASX system.
I’m finding im having some imbalances and admin issues trying to manage 3 tranches within one brokerage account on my ASX system. To track the virtual portfolio’s I use a spreadsheet and then transfer the trades to STT once completed.
For example, this morning I have run my system with the intention of closing out a few positions and opening some more as normal only to find that my spreadsheet doesn’t match the brokerage account. It’s not miles off, but it does concern me that I’m making some errors along the way and I need to tighten up my processes.
Does anyone have a clean method for doing this other than opening more brokerage accounts? If that’s what is required I will do it, however, IB told me I have a limit of 5 on this account structure so would like to use the remaining accounts (when opened) for new strategies.
Thanks!

August 1, 2021 at 9:07 pm #113658MichaelRodwellMemberThanks Glen – are you using STT to manage positions in each portfolio?
August 1, 2021 at 9:20 pm #113659GlenPeakeParticipantYep… I use a STT for each system… i.e. 1x STT for each system…. I know STT can handle multiple systems in the one STT, but I like to keep every system separate from a STT perspective.
If you wanted to then merge all you STT into one STT, then you could then import all of your STT’s into the one STT, which is easily done.
From a performance tables spreadsheet perspective, I have multiple tabs… I have unique ‘Broker’ tabs setup, which track the balance of each broker account and then I have multiple tabs for each system I run, which is where I track monthly system performance, this is where I use the end of month Net Profit value from STT and enter it into each individual system tab in the performance tables spreadsheet.
Let me if you need more details or an example etc.
August 1, 2021 at 9:38 pm #113660MichaelRodwellMemberCool… I think that makes sense to me. I have been using the performance tables in the same way.
So, if you were tracking my example, would you use a separate STT for each tranche treating them as a unique system?
August 1, 2021 at 9:56 pm #113661GlenPeakeParticipantI would keep the NDX and ASX rotational systems separated i.e. unique STT….
But I’d probably run all the tranches in 1 STT…. e.g. all ASX tranches in the 1 STT. That way you get a combined statistic.
If you wanted to, you could use the IB trade reference option to identify which tranche a trade belongs to and that way you could filter a tranche within STT after your trades are imported …?
IB Trade reference example
ASX100RTN-Tranche1
ASX100RTN-Tranche2
ASX100RTN-Tranche3And then you could filter a tranche(s) within STT i.e. STT dashboard etc.

How did you set up sub accounts with IB?
I’ve been trying to do so within my newly created account. Sent support a couple of help tickets 6-8 weeks ago and heard nothing back.
August 2, 2021 at 9:14 pm #113666MichaelRodwellMemberHey Kate,
Drop Neil an email: [email protected]
I think he’s one of Nick’s contacts (can’t quite remember) but he’s local and very helpful – deals with new accounts etc. He got me got me set up and there was some final steps to do with central support/ accounts to make it work.

Initial Description: Sub accounts
Response from IBCS at 31-Aug-2021Yes, if you want to set up another trust account, it is not able to set up a sub account under the existing trust account with the same login access due to the system limitation. Moreover, given the Friends & Family account is another account type, you may set up with different username from our homepage. Moreover, the purpose of friends & family account is designed for trade allocation and sub accounts management. If you want to manage the account(s) for your friends and/or family members, you may set up a friends & family account at first and then initiate sub account application from the advisor account.
To open a Friends & Family account, you may go to our homepage > click “Open Account” on the right top corner > Click “Start Application” and create a new account > Please choose “Friends & Family account” in the page of “Customer Type” once you have verified your application > Fill in the application till “Status” page
To initiate sub account invitation, please login the advisor account > click Send Application Invite > after creating a new sub account, please choose the account type in the “Advisor Client Application/ Choose Account Type” page.
Should you need any additional assistance, feel free to contact us.
