API issue: Shutting down one VPS and opening a new VPS

Does anyone know with the new Smart API if it can be installed in a new VPS after it has been previously running on a server?

I’m using hostwinds and running the Smart API on this and I want to be able to take advantage of that current 60% discount offer. In order for me to do this need to cancel my current VPS subscription and open a new VPS. But I think I can recall something about not being able to migrate the Smart API between machines once it has been set up, but I cannot find this information now? I also don’t want to bother Nick now that he is on holidays.

Craig you might know some information on this? Or anyone else?

I don’t think it is a problem. I have it on vps and my pc and there is no problem

I’m also running SmartAPI on a Server here in Germany with no problems. I also used Hostwinds as a Server provider and was not happy after several unexpected and not announced reboots. I believe Nick had similar problems and eventually also changed the Hosting provider.

You can run the API on any server – just ensure you use different API identifiers, i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 etc.

The issue you have is that TWS can’t be logged into on two different servers at the same time.

Trent,
I have used Hostwinds for awhile with a windows server. This weekend I signed up for a cloud server (SSD4) . I have a very old API originally from Abstraco. I couldn’t get it to work with the new cloud server. I am going to switch over to the smartAPI. Could you let me know if the smartAPI works on the new cloud server you signed up for this past weekend?
